Step 1. Start With Research
Before you sketch out logos, do some research to find out what logos your target audience is already looking at. It’s especially important to pay attention to other logos that might be part of your target audience, as they will shape what you think is cool and thus how your logo should look. Keep a notebook with you so that if you see anything particularly inspiring, you can jot it down.
Step 2. Brainstorm Design Concepts
Brainstorming will help you explore various logo ideas, get creative, and avoid getting stuck in a rut. The primary aim of brainstorming is to generate as many potential designs as possible. Brainstorming also helps break up any mental blocks that might hold you back from thinking outside of your design comfort zone.
There are no bad ideas during brainstorming; everything goes on paper or into a software program—it’s all about quantity rather than quality. You can even show off or share these preliminary concepts with clients or colleagues to gather feedback and revise where necessary—just remember not to become too attached!
It’s important to keep an open mind throughout every step of the process so that you don’t miss out on potentially amazing ideas. So let yourself go free-form—the more conceptual your initial sketches are, at least at first, the better. Step 3. Critique Designs (with the Team)
After you and your design team have created design options based on each of these steps, it’s time to evaluate them. Now that you’ve completed some initial research, focus on developing a more extensive background knowledge of your audience.
This will help you get a better sense of who they are (i.e., their personal interests, habits, etc.) in order to build a deeper connection with them via your design concept.
Step 4. Choose a Logo Style (Sketch)
The first step in creating professional logos is to figure out what style of logo you’d like to have. This process starts with just paper and pencil, so there’s no need to fire up Illustrator right away. A pencil is a logo designer’s best friend because it allows you to draw in a non-permanent fashion, so you can experiment with different ideas without having to worry about losing any work. But before you sketch, be sure to consider these three things:
1) What type of company are you?
2) Who is your clientele?
3) What kind of language or feelings do you want to associate with your brand?

Step 5. Finalise Logo Design
Now that you have a design concept you’re happy with, it’s time to complete your logo. As a rule of thumb, I usually begin creating professional logos in Affinity Designer. It allows me to draw circles, rectangles and other shapes exactly as I want them–with perfect symmetry, dimensions and precision–which is vital when creating logos.
Once I have a vector-based logo ready to go, I export it as a high-resolution PNG file. At that point, I can use Photoshop or even better – Affinity Designer to complete any remaining details. However, if your logo is simple enough, then there’s no need to do anything else after using Illustrator.
Either way, get someone else to look at your logo once it’s complete; they should be able to find any errors or mistakes you might have missed while working on it.
Designing Professional Logos – Keep it simple
Simplicity is always better, even in professional logo design. There are many factors that go into a successful logo design, but one of the most important is simplicity. Use minimalism to your advantage by focusing on only what is necessary—after all, there’s no reason to distract potential customers with an elaborate design unless it serves an important purpose.
Above all else, remember you want a memorable brand identity. Strong professional logos accomplishes both objectives.
Choose the right colors for your logo
Getting a color palette that complements your brand’s personality is an important step in creating a professional logo. Establish a color scheme early on to give potential clients an idea of what your business will look like and consider including complementary colors.
Complementary colors are those that sit opposite each other on the color wheel—for example, red and green or blue and orange. These colors can create powerful visual interest in logo designs as they complement each other instead of clashing.
