Step 1 – Purchase the domain name for your website
This is the name that identifies your website. People will type this into the browser URL bar to visit your website. Keep it as short as possible so its easy to remember!
Who we recommend?
We use Godaddy for all our domain names and highly recommend them.
Step 2 – Purchase a Professional Hosting Package
You need to find a web host to store your files (website). We recommend and use Cloudways: Blazingly Fast, SSD servers, good security and professional support.
Step 3 – Change the Name-Servers to Point to your Host
Login to your domain account, and look for DNS management. Your hosting provider would have given you the DNS records. Delete the current name-servers and replace them with the new ones.
We can do this for you.
If you provide us with your domain login details we can change them for you. You can always change the login details after!
Step 4 – Send your Host Login Details to LairdPage
To start your website send us the login details from your hosting provider. This enables us to create your new WordPress website by installing all the necessary files including a theme and plugins.

You could install the WordPress demo website yourself from the cpanel but we can also do this for you. We could even set up your email address while there! Read our article on ‘Why WordPress is the Best CMS for any Website’.
Step 5 – Install and Set Up a WordPress Theme
We only use themes that look good without compromising on appearance and usability. All themes are fully responsive with professional support and guaranteed updates.
Which Theme do we use?
We highly recommend the default Gutenberg & KadenceWP – due to their simplicity and ultra clean code for fast loading. Not forgetting how easy it is to change the website colour scheme – with just a few clicks!
Step 6 – Install and set up Kadence Page Builder
With 100% clean code Kadence can create just about any website you visualise. We use them on most of our sites. Websites load fast and you can edit on the front-end.
Step 7 – Add the Pages to Your WordPress Menu
Add your pages – about us, services, testimonials, frequently asked questions and a contact form. Connect the contact form to your email address and include a menu for visitor navigation.
The most important pages
The above pages provide the necessary information to your visitor and we recommend them on every site. Once you provide us the information, we can do this for you.
Step 8 – Set up the Categories, Posts and Featured Images
Build a site structure by adding categories to sort your content into relevant topics/posts. This gives you the flexibility to showcase your posts any way you want.
Tell us your categories
Once we know your categories, we can add posts and build a structure for your website. This helps visitors navigate and find all your relevant topics.
Step 9 – Add an SEO Plugin – Optimize WordPress for Search Engines
Add an SEO – search engine optimise plugin to create titles, descriptions and XML sitemap. Get your website indexed in search engines the way you want, based on your keywords.
